We were proud to own and stand this beautiful palomino stallion at stud. Cook was an exciting part of our program — professionally trained and successfully shown, earning several Cow Horse Championships, including Reserve Champion at Canada’s Greatest Cow Horse. During his time with us, Cook sired three exceptional foal crops, producing many talented performance horses. He left a lasting legacy through his stunning, stylish daughters, several of whom continue to contribute his strong “Leo” genetics to our “Sugar Bars” breeding program today. These mares proved to be outstanding, hard-working producers. When we crossed Cook N Oak on our “Showdown Zee” (grandson of Sugar Bars) foundation mares, they were truly a magic combination.

Sired by Mr Showdown Sugar, a son of Sugar Bars — sire of 30 AQHA Champions and maternal grandsire of 22 AQHA Champions — Sugar Bars was a son of Three Bars, sire of 29 AQHA Champions. We purchased Showdown Zee, a beautifully balanced liver chestnut stallion, because we wanted a horse with the kind of pedigree known for producing exceptional maternal lines — and he exceeded every expectation. Zee’s big-bodied, beautiful daughters became tremendous producers and crossed especially well with our stallions at the time, Whisper In Scotch (a son of Scotch Bar Time) and Cook N Oak. The resulting offspring were consistently stylish, athletic, and talented. At one time, we owned 13 of his daughters, who became the cornerstone of our breeding program. It was a privilege to own such a kind, intelligent horse, and we continue to reap the benefits of his influence today.

Sired by Doc’s Lynx ($9,856.09 NCHA), a son of Doc Bar — AQHA Hall of Fame stallion, sire of World and Reserve World Champions, and a legendary producer whose offspring have earned over $3.2 million in NCHA competition. On the paternal side, Doc’s Shena Lynx also traced to Poco Tivio, an AQHA Champion, Top Ten World performer, ROM Performance horse, and NCHA money earner.
His dam, Shena San, produced AQHA point earners and offspring with earnings exceeding $18,000 NCHA. She was an own daughter of Peppy San — AQHA Hall of Fame, World Champion, and NCHA earner of $49,478, whose offspring earned more than $3 million NCHA, with descendants surpassing $6.5 million in earnings along with countless championships and awards. His pedigree also carried the influence of Leo, AQHA Racing Hall of Fame stallion and ROM race horse, whose progeny earned extensively in both racing and cutting.
We were fortunate to own this grand old stallion for a short time and were proud to add his genetics to our program. We have retained two granddaughters that we plan to cross on our stallion, Shiney Gears — a combination we believe has tremendous potential. Stay tuned!
